Finally, I get my car back

More than two weeks after the accident, I got my car back from the repair shop.  At last!

The total repair cost was about P15,000; and, the insurance company shouldered about P10,000 only.  The balance’s my participation for the deductible and depreciation.  And, I’ve yet to receive the refund for the towing expenses of P3,000, which I advanced.

Commute, commute, commute

My car’s still in the shop waiting for the part to arrive.

Since we got home from Davao City, I’ve been commuting to and from work.  It’s good it’s no longer difficult to take the public utility vehicles.  And, I’ve been saving about P140 daily.

From home, I take a jeepney to the bus terminal at Robinson’s Novaliches, ride a bus up to EDSA - Buendia, and walk to the office. From office, I take a jeepney to MRT Buendia station, MRT to Trinoma, then UV Express up to our village.

I already miss my car; but, I’m enjoying commuting.

Happy Anniversary!

Today’s my wedding anniversary with my one and only wifey.  And, we’ve been celebrating it here in Davao City with our kids.

One fine day at the Pearl Farm Beach Resort

One of our destinations today was the Pearl Farm Beach Resort in the Island Garden City of Samal for a day trip.

The boat ride from Davao City is about 45 minutes.  We took the 8:00 am trip.  At the resort, I explored the place by walking and jogging.  The entire place is very nice, all right.  Then, I dipped at the sea for about 30 minutes.  Whew! A bottle of beer costs P100.00.  I just drank two bottles.

Lunch time!  It’s buffet; and, I indulged.  Already full, I still wanted more.  But, I had to cut the enjoyment as the boat for Davao City would leave by 1:00 PM.

I’m now in Davao City

I was supposed to fly to Davao City with my family yesterday.  But, due to the accident to my car, I was left behind to take care of the car.

Today, I took the 1:15 pm flight and arrived Davao airport at around 3:00 pm.  I was fetched by my family and proceeded to Crocodile Farm.  Thence, we went to Pards Grill and Restaurant for our dinner.

We’re now at the Green Windows Dormitel, where we are billeted.

Accident does happen

Accident happens to anyone, anywhere, anytime, anyhow.

This morning, my family’s bound for Davao City for four days and three nights vacation.

Our flight was at 5:30 am; and, we left home at around 2:15 am.  The Gen. Luis Avenue in Novaliches was almost devoid of vehicles.  Ahead was a slow moving truck.  So, I decided to overtake it.  As I encroached the opposite lane with an increased speed, I noticed two rocks lying on the middle of the opposite lane.  I slowed down before passing over them.  Thud! Thud!  Ouch!  One of the rocks hit the bottom of our car twice.  Whew!, I underestimated the size of the rock.

Upon inspection, we noticed that the engine oil was profusely leaking.  Darn!  I couln’t drive the car further lest that the oil would be drained that would cause the engine to knock.  I told my family to take a taxi to the airport and go ahead.  I’d just follow them when I secured the car.

At 9:00 am, I was able to contact my insurance agent to have the car towed to the repair shop.  The tow truck, however, arrived at around 2:00 pm.

My new rubber shoes

Levi’s and Dockers were having Christmas Sale of up to 50% at the ground floor of our building. I window shopped with no intention of buying. Then, I saw a good pair of light rubber shoes. Since my 2 pairs rubbers shoes are all worn out, I thought of buying it. After thinking thrice, I got my credit card and purchased it. At 40% off, the damage is P1,797 only.

I forget my shoes

It’s Monday again.  As I usually do, I left home for work at 5:00 am to avoid the monstrous traffic.  I arrived at the basement parking of the office building before 6:00 am and slept.

An hour and a half later, I woke up and got out of the car to the back seat to get and wear my polo and shoes.  I always drive with my Crocs slippers only. 

Darn!  The shoes weren’t in car.  Then, I remembered my son cleaned the car’s interior yesterday. I guessed he removed my shoes from the car and didn’t return them.

I couldn’t go to the office wearing slippers only.  I thought of my options:

1. Buy band aids and pretend that one of my feet was aching;
2. Wait for the malls to open and buy new shoes (it’s about 7:30 am and the malls open at 10:00 am);
3. Go home to get the shoes and return to office;
4. Go home and take a day leave.

I chose option no. 4.  I arrived home an hour later.

KarenPot makes me poorer by P15,000

I had our car (KarenPot) serviced at Kia Motors - Global City yesterday morning.  She has already logged 92,000 kms. and due for Periodic MaintenanceService (PMS).  Besides, there’s some strange noises coming probably from the engine compartment.  You never really could tell where the noises come from.

The noises were diagnosed to be caused by the worn idler pulley and auto tensioner.  The total estimate was P16,000.  Whew!  My head was aching.

When I redeemed her in the afternoon, the total charges less the 5% discount was P15,032.62.
