The bowling.
Strike!!! At last, our annual bowling tournament has been scheduled in SM Mega Mall Bowling Center. I’d been looking forward for this tournament to start, as I have not bowled and seen my bowling friends since the conclusion of our tournament last year. Last night was the opening.
The meeting.
Then, all of a sudden, a meeting was scheduled at that same time. I’d no other choice but to attend this meeting. So, I called up our Team Captain and explained. I assured him that I would follow if the meeting would be finished earlier. It didn’t.
The meeting venue was at the Old Swiss Inn in Olympia Building, Makati City.
Okay, I missed the bowling but the alternative was fine. I still remember when I was still working along Marcelino St. in Manila – near the Paco Park. My former boss, the company owner, was frequenting and always talking about the food at the Old Swiss Inn in Manila. Thus, I dreamt of eating there one day to satisfy my desire. The dream was still a dream until I left the company. When I worked in Makati, that dream became a reality. It’s good the restaurant opened a branch in Makati, which is just a walking distance from our office. Actually, last night was my fifth time to eat there.
The rain.
After eating our food (I had Halibut fillet and green mango juice, which I enjoyed very much), we started the discussions; and, at the same time, the downpour started. The summer really is over! As I commented to Liz’ blog on “The Rains are Back”, ‘I wish the MMDA would do their jobs to avoid the flooding whenever it rains.’
At 9:00 PM, when we left the restaurant, it was still raining. Because the rain hadn’t stopped yet, I hesitated to go home yet lest I might be stuck in traffics; but, later, I decided otherwise.
The consequences.
The traffic along EDSA, from Buendia flyover, was already terrible; so, I turned right to Kalayaan Avenue to take C5. The traffic there was okay up to Ortigas flyover. I then turned left to Ortigas Avenue, then right to the next street going to White Plains. Upon reaching the Mormon’s church, I decided to go back to EDSA because of the heavy traffic at Katipunan Street. EDSA was still traffic but moving. East Avenue to Elliptical Road was also okay despite the flood after QC Hall.
Another very heavy traffic was encountered after passing Tandang Sora flyover up to Tajuna Funeral Homes before Sandigan Bayan, where it took me 45 minutes to traverse. As expected, the culprit was the flooding. MMDA has done nothing yet. WAKE UP!
Finally, I arrived home at 11:00 P. M.
The disappointment of not attending the bowling was replaced by the enjoyment of eating at the Old Swiss Inn and then replaced by the traffic headache. What a long night!
I agree with you that the culprits are the undisciplined
Filipinos.
Nice sourgraping

I think the MMDA is doing its job. Without garbage flooding our waterways the floods would be less bad. Its the Filipino citizenry that is the culprit. Anyone who has ever thrown a cigarette butt on the street, dropped a piece of tissue paper even accidentally, is guilty.
