It’s a Nokia 6680.
No, it’s not a brand new phone but already used (by a former officemate). It’s just a replacement to my Nokia 9300 Communicator, which is for repair. The 9300 text messaging feature has already malfunctioned. Last week, I sent text messages and received some replies that they received numerous text messages with the same content. I opened the outbox; and the messages were still there and kept on resending. After rebooting the phone, the text messaging worked perfectly again; but, after a while, the problem recurred. This cycle happened several times until the text messaging failed to send.
These phones are not mine personally but company’s.
I’ve made a quick comparison between the two (2) phones, as far as the usability to me is concerned:
Model 6680 9300
Camera Yes None
Video recording Yes None
Fax None Yes
Calendar/To Do Yes Yes, but better
Display width 176 640
Memory 10MB internal 80MB internal
+ 64MB on MMC +128 on MMC
I’m a fan of communicator because of its laptop like features. It is easier and faster to type messages. I’m also copying e-novels into it and read them from it. Also, it has a facsimile function, which is very useful especially when I’m not in the office. My first communicator was a Nokia 9210i (company provided too).
The obvious advantages of 6680 over 9300 are the camera and video recording.
Both phones could be used as modem. Hence, I could access the internet from my laptop anywhere in the country as long as there’s a signal.
I’m still exploring the other features of 6680. Later, I’d decide what phone to keep.
