The kilometrage (mileage) of my car has already exceeded 46,000 kms., and the tire rotation was already overdue. I should have done this right after the 45,000 kms. Periodic Maintenance Service (PMS).
Tire rotation is recommended approximately every 10,000 kms. (or 6,000 miles). However, the timing may vary depending on the driving habits and road surface conditions. On the first 30,000 kilometers, I rotated the tires every 10,000 kms. After that, I’m doing it every 5,000 kms as the road conditions here are not good.
This morning, this was the first thing that I did, before washing the car, lest it would be postponed again. I drove the car out of the garage onto the street for more space and started the process.
As per the manufacturer’s recommendation, the tires should be rotated as follows:
Spare tire -> left front -> right rear -> right front -> left rear -> spare tire
In the process, I noticed that the right rear tire was under inflated. It was punctured by a nail. I had it patched first in the nearby vulcanizing shop and resumed the rotation. Also, one of the tire valve caps was missing. Good thing the shop gave me one for free. The patching cost was P60.00 and the tip was P10.00.
All done and after a mug of coffee, I proceeded in washing the car.
Rotating the tires is an important car maintenance. It would equalize tire wear and help prolong tire life. This would also give the car owner the opportunity to inspect the tires for uneven wear and damage, such as cuts, splits, cracks or even bulges, especially on the inner side.
I do this myself to save some money (the casa charges about P80.00). Also, in case of a flat tire, I'm already familiar on how to change tire.

It’s a nice tip. I should do the tire rotation of my car myself next time.
