Yesterday (October 30) afternoon, I went to Libingan ng mga Bayani (Heroes’ Cemetery) in
My father’s grave needed cleaning and trimming of the grass. A lady approached me and offered her services to clean the grave and the headstone, which I accepted.
The Libingan ng mga Bayani is reserved for the deceased military personnel who died in line of duty or were honorably discharged, Filipino veterans, former presidents, government dignitaries, statesmen and national artists. The lot and the interment service are all for free. My father was retired military personnel from the Philippine Army. Hence, he was authorized to be buried there.
Some pictures I took while waiting:
The graves
The widow and her two kids
Over the Libingan ng mga Bayani, where the planes fly by either for landing or take off.
so many “heroes” who died already.. sometimes it can be a little sad to think of that
