I went to Social Security System branch in Sen. G. Puyat Avenue, Makati City to file my long overdue Application for SSS ID (Form E-6). I arrived there at 7:20 a. m. and was surprised to see that the waiting area was almost full with people. Luckily, there was still one vacant chair. I understand only 100 applications are being processed daily. So, I estimated the number of applicants before me, which were about 80. And more applicants were coming in. A pregnant lady arrived and stood on one corner. Being a gentleman, I offered my seat to her, which she accepted with thanks – lucky for her. I was standing near the door and the guard’s rostrum, when a lady, thinking I was a guard on duty, approached me and asked for assistance. I gladly assisted her nonetheless by pointing where to put her application form.
At 8:00 a. m., the processing started. The clerk announced to ready two valid IDs. Damn, I only had one. I returned to the office, which is a walking distance away, and got another ID. When I went back, the area was already full packed and applicants kept on coming. At 9:00 a. m., I estimated that less than applicants had been called upon. At the rate it was going, I may be called upon by 12:00 noon. There was only clerk processing the 100 applications. Feeling the heat, hunger and tiredness of standing up, I decided to go back to the office and abandoned my application and not to waste more time.
I think SSS should do something to facilitate the ID processing. So much man hours are being wasted in this kind of inefficient procedures.
