Last Monday, my wife – Beng called me up if I already received or read the email of our niece, Raquel. I hadn’t; and she told me the sad news about Matthew Nilson Jr., Raquel’s step son, being found dead inside his apartment. I was shocked. I checked my inbox and opened Raquel’s email bearing the sad news. At 40 years old, he’s still too young to die. He just turned 40 last November 20.
I met Matthew once when he and his sister, Monica, came to the Philippines for the wedding of their father, Matt, to Raquel sixteen years ago. We were hoping to see and meet him again this November.
Yesterday, I received the email of Matt about the untimely demise of his son, that Matthew was a wonderful son/step son, brother to Monica, brother-in-law and uncle to Monica’s family. He was a beautiful, gentle and generous person. And, he was loved very much by the family.
An informal memorial gathering shall be held this Saturday evening in San Diego, California.
Our sincerest CONDOLENCES! May he rest in peace!
